Last weekend (11th February) All Saints’ competed in the B Division Club Premierships. This year the team chose “Smurfs” as their theme and, as usual, got right into the spirit of the occasion. As you can see, they looked great.
Their costume efforts were mirrored by their swimming efforts, with the team managing to place second overall, a mere 8 points behind the winner. This continues their fantastic performance in previous years which have seen All Saints’ consistently promoted through the divisions.
This competition is a great opportunity for the Club to come together and Thank You everyone – swimmers, coaches, supporters and costume makers - for making it a fantastic experience. We’re already looking forward to next year……
2012 State Open, Age & Junior LC Championships
Held between 17th & 21st January 2012, these championships are the culmination of effort in the Long Course season. All Saints’ was proud to have 35 swimmers competing in 197 swims over the 5 days and congratulations to every swimmer who qualified and swam. Their results were fantastic ; they managed to amass 110 PBs and 38 medals.
A special mention has to go to Emily Kayser who broke the WA Residential Record (16yrs/U) which had been standing for 12 years and had been set by Jennifer Reilly. What a tremendous achievement Emily.
A group of 6 swimmers, accompanied by Tom Stachewicz, participated in an intensive training camp over the October holidays. Based at the United World College of South East Asia, East Campus, in Singapore, the group took advantage of the excellent facilities offered to maximise the benefits of swimming and gym sessions at the start of the new long course season. The training stretched the swimmers and the humidity provided an additional challenge to everyone.
The swimmers also had a little R&R along the way, with a trip to the new Universal Studios proving a great antidote to the 100 x 100m’s set.
Thank you to Jackie Kayser who did all the necessary organisation, chaperoned the swimmers and enhanced the trip with her substantial local knowledge. You did an excellent job.
The UWC website also ran a blog about our swimmers – have a look at the blog and the facilities at: http://www.uwcsea.edu.sg/page.cfm?p=2708
Over the October school break a team of All Saints’ swimmers travelled to Broome and competed in the 2011 Kimberley Open SC Championships. The meet was held 8th – 9th October so the team took the opportunity to have a couple of days either side to train and get ready for the meet and to take in the sights and atmoshpere of the town. Our swimmers had great success at the championships, with every swimmer picking up PBs and amassing a grand total of 30 medals. A fantastic effort and one we acknowledge with a huge Well Done.
A trip of this nature cannot happen without a huge amount of organisation and the time and effort expended by coach Michelle Ward, along with Jackie Kayser, before, during and after the trip deserves a huge Thank You!
Michael and Deb White also accompanied the swimmers as chaperones and the Club extends their thanks to them for taking on the role and fulfilling it so ably. Thank You both!
Monday afternoon was a chance to catch the highlights of the trip and hopefully everyone enjoyed that event.
This was the first time the Club has undertaken this trip and hopefully it will be repeated in future.
Look out for photos from the trip on the website soon…..
Recently, 5 members of the All Saints’ Swim Club, together with coach Tom Stachewicz, travelled to Canberra as part of the WA State Team competing at the State Teams SC Championships. Rory Franks, Adelaide Hart, Emily Kayser, Chelsea Sanders and Jemma Saxton swam in 27 events over the meet, which took place 17th – 19th September and managed to gain a total of 5 medals. Congratulations on being chosen to represent WA and well done on achieving some great results.
All Saints’ swim club is sending its very best wishes with Adelaide Hart as she travels to the UK to compete for Australia in the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. The Games are being held from 7 – 13 September on The Isle of Man and full details of the Games and updates on athletes’ progress can be found at www.cyg2011.com
Although Adelaide only recently joined All Saints’, many of our senior swimmers have known her for some time. But whether we’ve known her a little or a long time, I’m sure we all wish her the very best experience possible and hope she comes back having had a successful, memorable Games.
Good Luck Adelaide!
A huge weekend of swimming is about to start. From Friday 15th to Sunday 17th July 36 of our Junior, Age and Open swimmers will be competing at the WA SC State Championships, taking part in 202 events over the 3 days. This is a significant achievement for the individual swimmers and for the Club. Well done to each of you for achieving the qualification times needed to enter your events and we hope your hard work translates into many PBs. See you all at Challenge!
The Club would like to send its support to the swimmers who are in Adelaide to compete in the 2011 Australian SC Championships. Of the 11 swimmers who qualified for events at these championships, the following 6 swimmers have made the trip: Christian Halliley, Ryan Kayser, Emily Kayser, Jemma Saxton, Scott Carpenter and Rory Franks, along with coach Tom Stachewicz. We’re sure they will give it their very best and we hope to see some great results. Once again, Jackie and Rob Kayser are giving up their time to accompany the team to make sure they are fed, watered, ferried where they need to be and generally looked after. Thank you both. The swimming starts Friday 1st July and runs through to Sunday 3rd July, so keep an eye on the Swimming Australia website for updated results.
Welcome back to the 12 strong team that recently competed at the 2011 Australian Age Championships, in Adelaide. This is the largest team that All Saints’ Swim Club has had attending the event and we are proud of their achievement in making it to this level of competition. The team comprised Sam Aitken-Fox, Scott Carpenter, Rory Franks, Jake Henderson, Emily Kayser, Sarah Lawrence, Tessa Lawrence, Jack Paull, Olivia Russell, Chelsea Sanders, Madeline Wilkins and Beatrice Wilson. The event was held over the week 18th – 23rd April and we had swimmers competing everyday of the competition. A total of 22 individual events and a relay.
Congratulations to Rory Franks who won a bronze medal in the 15year 100m Breaststroke and to Scott Carpenter who won a bronze medal in the 15year 200m Breaststroke. Very well done to you both. Congratulations also to Emily Kayser and Chelsea Sanders who made finals. Emily in the 800m and 400m Freestyle and Chelsea in the 100m & 200m Breaststroke.
The swimmers were presented with Club T-shirts at our Club Night on 13th April, just before they flew to Adelaide. Thanks to all who attended to wish them well. They have put in a great deal of time and effort to be at this level and whilst it is they who spend the time in the water, we have to say Thank You to Tom for the time, effort and energy he puts in to their training to help them achieve.
Of course, the swimmers need to be fed and watered while they are away and I was more than ably assisted in this task by Rob and Jackie Kayser – who did an extremely quick turn around from the Australian Championships to help in Adelaide. Thank You both. Thanks also to the other parents who helped out in Adelaide - your help was greatly appreciated.
There were some great photos taken, both at Club Night and over the course of the week and hopefully we’ll be able to post some of these really soon.
